2. End-to-end metrics in effective DevOps Value Stream Management

This recognition of the importance of end-to-end metrics in effective Agile software delivery has coincided with the growth of the concept of DevOps Value Stream Management. (See Gartner Market Guides 2020, 2021 and 2023: ‘DevOps Value Stream Management Platforms’).

Value Stream Management (VSM) encourages technology teams to view Agile delivery as an end-to-end value delivery process (made up of a series of ‘value streams’ that can be mapped) requiring careful orchestration and management.

The view is that end-to-end metrics and analytics are critical to effective value stream management – to measure how effectively value is delivered.
